Meet Katharine Manning.
I'm the President of Blackbird, which provides training and consultation on empathy at work, particularly in challenging times when it matters most. I'm also the author of The Empathetic Workplace: Five Steps to a Compassionate, Calm, and Confident Response to Trauma on the Job. I've advised organizations on working with those in trauma for more than twenty-five years, including fifteen years as a Senior Attorney Advisor at the Justice Department, where I worked on cases like Madoff, the Boston Marathon bombing, and the South Carolina AME Church shooting. My work has been featured in the Harvard Business Review, Fast Company, Thrive Global, and CEO World. Prior to my government service, I was an attorney in private practice representing Fortune 500 companies in class actions, insurance, and media cases. I teach at American University and in the Masters in Trauma-Informed Leadership Program at Dominican University, and am a graduate of Smith College and the University of Virginia School of Law.
